Before the action, an activist who goes by Stella sat down with ACPC to share why they decided to participate in the lockdown.

Police arrested the activists and booked them in Maricopa County jail. In an interview after the action, Stella told ACPC that they witnessed extreme neglect and overt violence during their night in jail.

“It was very scary and very painful,” said Stella, “but please don’t let fear of these spaces [of incarceration] keep you from doing nonviolent direct action because this kind of solidarity with incarcerated people will only make our movement stronger.”
